I hope you are doing great even in light of what is going on in the world right now…crazy times, really. I am here to share an important life update with you which will have an impact on Upcycily for the next 12-18 months.
Sooo, let’s begin…
As you probably know ( or it’s possible that you don’t know), I founded and launched Upcycily during my placement year as the part of my university education, studying Textiles. This placement year sadly came to an end in June (2020) which means that I am starting my final year (whooohoo) in September. I have planned so much to do over the summer in order to keep Upcycily alive and going while I am on my final year – pre-writing posts, creating content, launching new products etc. However, my uni course decided otherwise; I have to spend my whole summer preparing for my final year, giving me 2 big projects to complete by September which means: no time to pre-write posts, research, launch products or create any special content… uhmm yeah.. I have many mixed feelings about this whole situation but life is what it is and I still cannot complaint. So, to continue…
I worked so hard for this degree in the past 3 years, so it was a clear and kind of an obvious decision to focus on my uni education 100% until I graduate next summer. It was a hard decision don’t get me wrong, but I needed to realise that I won’t have the capacity to do a full-time final year uni course, my part-time job, a part-time business and have a life; there’s just not enough time in a day to focus on everything – and to be honest, I do not want to. Dividing my attention towards too many things just never work out for me; I can achieve my best when I only focus on one major thing and maybe something small on the side. So, I came to the conclusion that Upcycily and (hopefully) ALL of you will wait for me when I come back after graduation when my business can get my full-attention (along with my part-time job but that is manageable , I believe).
So, what you can expect from me until graduation?
My website will go for a little sleep for now – I don’t want to delete it completely but I will switch from e-commerce to a normal website plan to save some £££ while I am not using it. There won’t be any new products, content or any additional information other than what you can find now on my website.
HOWEVER, one thing that I would like to push as much as I can is my Instagram page which is growing slowly but surely. No crazy content or anything but hopefully I will manage to check in from time to time. Any updates or information will be announced there so if you haven’t already follow me, check out Upcycily’s IG page.
If you would like to get more insights into what I am up to during my final year at uni studying textiles, you can check out my textiles account as well. I am planning so many amazing things to focus on during my final year such as; researching more into slow fashion & sustainability, developing ways how I can advocate slow fashion through my own practise etc.
Sooo, yeah, feel free to follow me there as well:
I hope I will see you over on my IG pages and I am so excited to launch Upcycily 2.0 after my graduation. I have a feeling that 2020 & 2021 are going to be productive, exciting and inspirational. I have so many ideas and plans what I can do through Upcycily such as my workshops, my kits & other products, educative content, blog, FB group and many more. I hope I can make most of these ideas a reality once I have the whole wide-world for myself (after I graduate). So, now I am leaving you for a bit but now for too long so please, wait for me if you are interested it anything upcycling / repurposing, textiles, conscious consumerism, ethical and green fashion & creative approaches to slow fashion. Fingers crossed, my life will go in a way that I will be able to achieve everything that I am dreaming of for a more sustainable, ethical and conscious future for me and for all of us on this planet.
Take care of yourselves and see you over on my Instagram.
